dairy-free week 2
my 2nd week of going dairy free has gone well. it's gotten easier in some ways. along with the little challenges of going without, come suprising benefits. it's good to know that you can go without things, isn't it? many times, it takes going without to discover things we wouldn't have otherwise.
like this yummy concoction:
this is my new favorite blended ice drink. and i'm pretty sure i'll drink this dairy-free or not. it reminds me of a chocolate banana vivanno smoothie from starbucks. all it takes is this:
1 1/2 cups of chocolate almond milk
1 1/2 bananas chopped up and frozen in a ziplock bag in the freezer, overnight
1 T of peanut butter
the measurements can all be adjusted depending on what consistency or amount you prefer...
then blend away!
so far, i haven't noticed much of a difference with timothy. i'm waiting on a test result from one of his stool samples to see if anything icky is still going on unseen in his digestive system. beyond that, i'm not sure how long i will do this diary-free thing. the doctor really wanted us to stay on the meds until his next check-up in a month. while i don't like keeping him on it, it bothers me less knowing that he's outgrown his original dosage in weight. and with a bit more time, it will be easier to tell how he's really doing; between his sphincter muscle strengthening, his sitting up, the lack of dairy and no increases in the medication dosage. so, more updates to come...
